Awhile back I heard they had devices you could hold up to your car
radio that would extract the song name / artist and display it on the hand held device. I wanted to find out if this device actually exists and where I might find one. Thanks, Chris |

Thanks, Chris Chris, You're referring to a technology called RDS (radio data service), in which an RDS-equipped station (not all are) can transmit data to an RDS-enabled receiver (again, not all are). Precicely what data is transmitted would be up to the station management, but it can certainly be program-specific information. I'm not aware of any proximity devices that would display the RDS info. It's conceivable though. A radio receiver could be equipped with, perhaps, BlueTooth technology, which could make it possible to send the info to a BlueTooth cell phone, for instance. Dan |
