Because AOL's raison d'etre has always been content, content, content. Why do you think they're offering AOL for Broadband? They're not now, and never have been, simply an access provider. It's the same reason Verizon's partnered with MSN and SBC with Yahoo for their respective DSL services. MSN and Yahoo are premium content providers.
