If you want a Spectrum Analyzer just to monitor your transmitter
signals and not do design work with there are a couple of nice
circuits on teh net that can be put together for under $200. Maybe
under $100.

The one by the Green Bay Professional Packet Radio group is a nice one
for signal monitoring. It is based on the W7ZOI and K7TAU circuits and
is a better one as it will work up to 1Gig. Granted these are not as
good as commercial built test equiptment but for monitoring emmisions
compliance it is better than nothing. I think the circuit would be
neat to interface it to a quarter VGA color LCD panel.

Default Modulation on scope question

James;

I'll have to look at the one by Green Bay Professional Packet Radio group,
didn't know about it. I would like to do some experimenting around on the
microwave bands just for the heck of it. I've been slowly gathering up
equipment to use.

You can find old VCRs now for under $10 bucks that are loaded with
usable parts. Some if you buy brand new would cost three and four
times that.
