You're gonna have to ship that jogunn! :-P

Its a 12 ft boom. Could be a problem. I did ship pieces of a PDL II to
a gent in Minnesota a few years back. I wonder if he still reads this
board.

One piece is 12 foot? The boom is longer than that, no? Closer to 18'?
It's not in 3 pieces?

UPS and FEDEX run up the bill on oversized boxes, even if they don't
weight much. Getting an IMAX was obscenely expensive thru the internet. I
got one locally.

Vinnie S.

Hmmm, the nearest jogunn dealer to me is in Columbus. The shipping
shouldn't be more than it would cost me to drive there and back, no matter
where I buy it.

Right, it is an 18 foot boom and no its not in 3 pieces rather 1. I
replaced all the hardware with stainless but it needs the polyester
roping to keep it level. When I get around to it I'll send you some pics.

Just Yeasu, Drake used 6JB6s. Kenwood used 6146s. Forgot what ICOM
used.

|Ive heard it's not a good idea to switch the tubes.
|
|---------------------

If you know what y ou are dong the conversion can be done. Today there
are not a lot of amature operators well schooled in tube theory. The
biggest issue is matching filament votages and currents. Some
transcievers and transmitters will put the final fillaments in series
with other tubes. Drake dows this with their TR4 and T4X units. I had
to strap a large wattage resistor over the filaments to balance
current.

I did a conversion on a Drake T4X to 6146Bs and the biggest issue I
had was keeping the final stage nuetralized on 10M. I ended up
regulating the screen voltage down to about 150VDC from the 250VDC the
6JB6s ran at. That helped a bunch. The drop in output was not a major
concern. Still was able to get 80W on 10M. The HA10 really only needs
about 50 W drive. Also modified the T4X so that I could bypass the
finals and drive an NCL2000. Now that is a nice amp.

UPS and FEDEX plain will not accept packages with any dimension over 7
feet, end of story. Being an owner-operator in direct competition
with them, I end up getting a lot of business they turn down.

Ship the antenna, much better for people to meet each other, get an idea
who you're dealing with. AAAhhhhh, football (what's know as the real football
world wide), I'm geared up for NASCAR this year and counting the days before
baseball starts.

Hello Paul:

What shipping group is that? I have had Fedex ship 108 inch long boxes,
but I had to pay dearly for it.

I'd rather not say, mostly because I ask double what they're asking
for trips to California just for having to deal with the idiot locals
around that state...
