The days of people arguing about feed line length versus swr seems like a distant memory. Are there any old timers here who want to try and turn the tide? What's up OG???? LOL!!!!! Well you are right, but a good filter doesn't hurt. It saw 89 post BBAAAAMMMMM, only 8 after filters. Going to see this collection tomorrow, wish you & Steveo were closer, I know you two would like it. http://www.milvehtechfound.com/history.html Here's a good link with pictures: http://www.mishalov.net/military-veh...-vehicles.html Landshark Nice site Sharkie. Thanks. I'm more particular to the air side of defense as the family has been building planes since the '30's. Last plane was the F14D Super Tomcat. Its retired now so I've moved on to state of the art telecomm's. No problem, love military air, just more towards WWII, not the modern, push button stuff. That collection was awesome, it was amazing the stuff that guy has. I'll let you know when I'm out your way, visiting the Smithsonian. We'll make a day or two for the Air & Space museum. Landshark |

Hello Jim: Yeah 18 feet seems top work well in a mobile installation. Why is that? Is it because the antenna puts RF Energy on the coax outer shield due to a lack of ground surface. In all my antennas installs it seems that way. So 18 feet of coax is roughly 3/4 of a wavelength, ( with a velocity factory of .66) and any RF Energy coming back will have to come back thru another 3/4 wavelength of coax. Maybe that length vs wavelength is the best to use. Your comments.... Jay in the Mojave jim wrote: * Feed length 'does' make a difference when calculating swr ![]() - Show quoted text - idiot |
