... Isn't the aussie CB band UHF? That makes a big difference. An HF repeater can cause interference pretty much worldwide. UHF would only cover a few 10's of miles. We have the same issues with 6 meter and 10 meter repeaters, though they are legal for hams. -- KC6ETE Dave's Engineering Page, www.dvanhorn.org Microcontroller Consultant, specializing in Atmel AVR Hi Dave. Tell me please. What remedies are there for such issues in 10 meter? Just wondering. Or is the inadvertent skip ok with the hams (possibly a welcome side affect)? Thanks, -Dr.X |

wondering. Or is the inadvertent skip ok with the hams (possibly a welcome side affect)? PL tones, and coordination, carefully limiting the number of repeaters in use, and their power output. They may even control their power according to band conditions, but I'm not sure on that. The only repeaters I've worked on, were 2M and higher, so I don't have direct experience there. You might look up one of the 10M repeater callsigns, and email the licence holder, and ask him. |

PL tones, and coordination, carefully limiting the number of repeaters in use, and their power output. Yeah, the hams are very good at coordination/cooperation. Something seriously lacking in 11 meters (but that's stating the obvious I guess). They may even control their power according to band conditions, but I'm not sure on that. Yeah, I thought about limiting output power but it seems to me that if I can talk skip with 500 mw on 11 meters, then scaling back couldn't be much help. Skip will roll when skip wants to roll. Maybe a high angle of radioation would allow good local and limit the ability to dx. (anyone with good antenna theory have ideas on that?) The only repeaters I've worked on, were 2M and higher, so I don't have direct experience there. You might look up one of the 10M repeater callsigns, and email the licence holder, and ask him. Thanks Dave. I'll do that. -Dr.X |

There are antenna designs that radiate most of their power skyward, high
angle, for short range comms.. I can't recall the name at the moment.. -- KC6ETE Dave's Engineering Page, www.dvanhorn.org Microcontroller Consultant, specializing in Atmel AVR |

All's I can say is good luck with it. Legal or not. -- Kerry voted for that, before he voted against it. |
