I've been out of CB'ing for some years, but would like to get back on the
air. I live on a fixed disabilty income, but I would like to find a 40channel Sideband cb radio ( last one I had was the Sear AM/SSB one that was base/mobil ) that I could get on nov.1st. Also any old PDL beams laying around unused? KAPA 4318 -- "And for the second time in four million years, the monolith awoke." ALmost immediately I went into SSB. I started out on AM over in Hawaii, with my handle I used to get replys from
Japanese Fishing boat. When I moved back to Calif. I picked up a Sear mobil AM/SSB and stayed mostly on SSB from then on. Then in the mid 80's I took my base to a shop to have a slider put in and when I got it back, the shop had totaly screw it up and they closed up not long after. So been out since then. There are a few good ones I can think of. Pesident Washington, Colt 480,
485, 1000 (black shadows), JC Penney 6247, 6241. All of these are easy to work on and add some extra channels. There is quite a lot of SSB between 27.405 and 27.805. I talked to California from Ohio yesterday. I've also talked to locals, as well as Italy, Germany, Bahamas, and a host of others. Most of the base skip has been with stock power. I was watching that Sears Roadtalker, whew, it's gone past my limits real
fast, I really didn't think there would be a demand for the sears ones, heck sears dropped them back in 78 even. Lat time I checked it was up into the $30 range. -- "And for the second time in four million years, the monolith awoke."
