Let me possibly answer your question with a question....How long has

ham
radio allowed dumb assed CBers in with basically no knowledge or desire
to
learn anything about ham radio in the service?

There is your answer.

Dan/W4NTI

Good call, Dan. Interestingly, they are anonymous on the air, as well

as
off the air, in newsgroups. I guess it has something to do with low
self-esteem, or maybe just as you said: dumbass CBers. But isn't that
redundant?

Hello, Dave and Dan

Either of you guys remember W2OY? About the only difference between him and
some today is that he wasn't anonymous. But he *loved* to jam folks. There
have been others of more recent vintage as well that also were not
anonymous.

Best regards from Rochester, NY

Yes I remember John. He was indeed a character. And you are right....he
did indeed ''jam'' folks. But in all fairness he owned 3810, at least he
thought he did HI HI.

Hello, Dan

Well, the 'gentleman' I am thinking of was Mike, W2OY, and he was active out
of the Buffalo, NY, area back in the 60s (when I first got on the air) and
probably some decades before as well. He was a class "A" licensee.

Greetings Dan! There are plenty of idiotic CBer's, but we cannot blame these
antics on the amateur bands solely on them. As has been stated it is on the
news groups as well. As a matter of fact I have not found any organization or
club that I have ever belonged to that didn't have idiots in them that had no
connection with CB radio. The commonality with idiotic people in diverse groups
is that there are always going to be a certain amount of idiots out there and
they must go somewhere. If you find a group of people somewhere and they have
no idiots among them don't ruin it for them and let anyone know. 73 Jon.

Very good Jon! Now if we could only
teach the idiots, so we could make society better.

Yeah that is it...Mike. I have always been terrible with names. Calls I
remember... hi.

I actually talked to him once. On 75 meters in an abortive attempt to get
on for the first time. He throughly thrashed my attempt. But as they
say.....What don't kill ya, makes ya stronger.

Hello, Dan

Well, I did manage to talk with him, despite being a "wet-bottom boy"
(WB2). Had a nice conversation with him and finally he said that the
grandkids had arrived and he wanted to go give them a paddling. I've heard
(and won't go by this) that he was actually a nice guy but liked to stir the
soup, so to speak, on the air.

Heck, I found 40 words per minute or so got his blood pressure to rise
through the roof and we couldn't even hear him LOL.

Life is too short; I need to stick around a few years as I haven't pi**ed on
enough graves yet

Best regards from Rochester, NY
