Which is a better unit? I had a Galaxy 949. Great on AM. Drifted like an unanchored boat on SSB. It was terrible on SSB. The Midland is notorious for terrible adjacent channel interference. You will need to install the Channelguard filter on the Midland. Here is some info: http://www.cbgazette.com/79-290_review.html I would try to get a Uniden Grant, Grant XL, Grant LT, or their equiv, if you serious into SSB. If you are just going to AM, then the 959 is fine. Vinnie S. |

Get your ham license so you are not exposed to wristflipping keyclowns like mopathetic. |

Most CB technology has been unchanged in the last 20 years, with a couple exceptions. Midland made what appears to be state of the art display, but their receiver sucks. What many people is get a modded 10 meter radio and use it on CB. The Grants are somewhat old, but very well made. You have to find one that hasn't been hacked. There are a bunch of Grant equivilent radios that use the same board. Uniden still makes excellent AM radio today, if you want just AM. Or you can go with the Galaxy. I would go with Uniden.
