Dont you tell me theres something smaller in the US than the UK....normally everything in the US is bigger ;op Funny how amounts change but the same units are used.... crazy world If its an imperial gallon then it may be what magnum claimed. either way the boys in euro pay a boatload more than we do. Sounds about right.. We pay a boatload more in a lot of things but i guess its just the way it is. House prices can be the worst. You wouldnt believe some of the "crap" some people are buying that costs over £150K ($276,461). The average house is around £200K ($368,619) and anything half decent would be £250K ($460,773) and over except in London where you would have trouble buying a small flat for that with no land at all... I wouldnt mind emigrating to the US but i see that as a dream rather than a reality.. you are speaking to the wrong person looking for house price sympathy. 60 miles east of nyc and a 1500 sq ft house on a 1/4 acre goes for 369K and if its new 10k per year in taxes. people rent their sheds to illegals to pay the bills. A quarter of an acre is what a lot of us could only dream about here. If your 369K house was here in the UK i bet it would be a cool 500K, if it was near london you could easily double that. ;o) Look after yourself mate Graham i've mates in cardiff, bude (cornwall), southampton & oldham and the prices they paid aren't THAT bad but still steep. the taxes here are f ing outrageous. cheers. Cheerio, you monty python with a new york sounding accented JimII the third...lol have another beer hehehe Thanks, but I just opened this one. Ah, no beer tonight for me still recouping from the weekend and holiday. Dark rum, Squirt soda, with Hawaiian punch. Cardiff is in Wales and is quite a cheap place to live to be honest. and Bude is a holiday resort and oldham is a bit like your bronx ;o) Not sure about Southampton i think its somewhere inbetween. I lived near Swansea a few years back and that was just up the road from Cardiff. The house we bought there was massive in comparison to a lot of UK houses, it had a huge garden and a garage at the top that more resembled a bungalow, with hot and cold running water and inspection pit. It was half the price of houses in Birmingham UK as there arent many skilled jobs there. I know of course it depends where you buy to the prices.... The image also is Americans all live in big houses with well paid jobs and have huge gardens and gas guzzling flash motors whereas we all live in a little house and catch the bus and its always raining I blame Hollywood for that ;o) Regards, Graham |
