But you used to run those big linears for competition!!!! Yes but when I fire them up and ask my friend 20 miles down the road how I sound I don`t want someone in Texas saying I sound good ![]() That however may be out of your control and quite inevitable!!! |

Not too long ago for me. I've talked to skipland off and on for the last 15 years or so. I live in a condo now, so NO outdoor antennas. This is my first post to the board. I go by Buther Boy. BB Welcome. Are you using a dipole somewhere? Vinnie S. Hello, Vinnie I actually have a setup in the car, but the antenna is in the trunk! I guess I've sort of put it away for awhile. I do intend to get back into it sometime in the near future. The rig in the car is an Icom 706 MKIIG modified for extended RX?/TX. It's a great rig. What is everybody here running? ![]() Here's my two cents about skip, for those who don't have an outdoor antenna. I used to live in a Townhouse, and upstairs I used an ACI full wave mobile antenna, mag mount. on a folding metal closet door (horizontal). I ran beautiful skip, using my Grant on a power supply. I talked to England, Austalia, and many other locations, when skip was good back in the late 80's to early 90's! Most people in my area didn't believe it, as my local signal was not good of course. |
