I need a new install on this machine anyway.

Who's got the bootleg?

I just spoke to Joe Rudi's (Oakland A's outfielder during the 1970's)
station on a contest on 20M and 40M.

Check out his station and antennas !!!

Dang. He makes us look like sticking a mag-mount on the top of the entrance
to a slum apartment.

Nice farm over there, I bet it screams on 80.

He was a great defensive OF from what I remember, but that was toward the end of
his career. Made a great catch in the 1972 WS. His station was booming in on
20M. I barely made the contact on 40M, but it counted.

Dunno, never used it.

It sucked wind. Locked up more times than Adair.

Vinnie S.

You just upgraded?

Hell no. I went to Windows 2K, which was great. Now I am at XP. I don't recall
when was the last time I used 98SE. It was terrible.

I still have it on this PC, win 98SE.
But it boots in Linux, and many win apps run in linux windows emulator wine.
Uptimes of 30 days and more are normal for my system.
But my scanner (paper scanner, not radio), and CD label printing soft works only
in that win98SE.....
Hey even the tax office had Linux program for download for income tax, I used it.
So, MS software will likely be illegal soon in Europe.
Not that you could get a Vista anyways before Christmass
LOL
I find that radio site impressive actually, ver\y nice stuff there, do not have the space
and money for that.
Really enjoyed the pictures.

Linux has ax25 and some nice packet radio soft too.

Would of thought about placing the station/ant farm on top of the hill
not at the base.

Not sure if he owns the property up there. I am assume it's much more difficult
to get heavy equipment up there.

When I first looked at his stuff, I didn't think it was his house. As I
kept looking, I saw it was. I don't know why she lets him do that. He
could use a couple of warehouses or such space.

Dood has a barn full.

I'd guess two meters ain't his favorite place to hang out with guys that
actually have antennas in the air.

At any rate that guy is obsessed! hehe

What's with Windows 98SE?

Vinnie S.

I suspect the lack of activation and the ability to install the same license
on all his machines.

how much could a heavy lift chopper cost to rent? then run say 600-800'
of rg-8x to the shack. piece of cake one would think. not.

If you read his website, those hills are causing a problem. Some of the beams
are blocked from Asia.
