Default LinWSJT - problems

Anyone built Jonathons latest on a SuSE 8.1 box?

I got it going after a fashion by doing the following. Note that JT44 dies
after a minute or so. FSK441 looks okay but havent seen any sigs yet!

- Dont install the wxGTK packages from the SuSE distrib. Download the latest
source wxGTK-2.4.1.tar.gz and build it per the INSTALL info in the LinWSJT
package.
- libsndfile is not installed in the SuSE default. It is however on the
distrib CD/DVD. I also installed the develop package but dont know if it was
needed.
- The FFT libraries are named differently under SuSE. I modified the
Makefile in the LinWSJT root changing the export LIBS reference from -lfftw
to -ldfftw
- Building takes a while. My P400 took about 40 minutes to do wxGTK and
another 30 to do LinWSJT
- Note that I ran the configure/make etc processes as a normal user and then
su root to do install and ldconfig. I mention this because the root user
doesnt get the path to the /usr/local area. Before doing make install add
the /usr/local/bin temporarily to roots path so it can find wx-config.

I suspect the JT44 dying is a problem with fft libs. There is a comment on
the fft source sight that says that the norm now is to prefix the single
precision libraries with an "s" but leave the double precision w/out a
prefix. The older method (and what is set up in SuSE 8.1) is to use both an
"s" and "d" prefix and not have an prefixless library at all. Having said
that I should point out that their is a prefixless fft header file in
/lib/include that symlinks to the single precision library!

Am going to spend some time this weekend looking for signals to resolve.
After that I'll create some symlinks for the prefixless libraries and
change the header file around before trying a WSJT build again...
