The Bavarian Contest Club (BCC) invites all active meteor scatter enthusiasts to join the MS contest hold during the Geminids shower 2008. The aim of the contest is to generate more activity on the random frequency and make MS random operation more popular. It will also provide interesting information about MS propagation at various times of the shower. And it will give the little pistols a chance to work the big guns, who are usually just out for square hunting... The observed peak time was around 02 UT, with ZHR about 90 hr-1. Meteor rates have been much higher than that of Leonids’ background component for more than 4 hours... A QSP from Arne SM7AED says; It would seem that the new DXCC entities from the Netherlands Antilles are on hold for now. Guido van den Berg, PA0GMM, 1st Vice-President of the "Vereniging voor Experimenteel Radio Onderzoek Nederland" (VERON), informs OPDX that no new ones will take place on December 15th, 2008. He states, "Status of Netherlands Antilles will not be changed before 2010 (even 2010 is not guaranteed)." I now have it on the download page at Golist.net. This version replaces both the full version 5.4 and the version 5.5 upgrade.This new version is the second of the 32 bit releases and is the platform that Fab will be upgrading from now on. DX Telnet is a Windows based, DX oriented, telnet application. Unlike the traditional telnet applications, DX Telnet was designed to fit the DXer’s needs and to fix most of the well known problems affecting the other traditional telnet applications... The team will be led by HB9CRQ, one of Europe’s top EME operators and will include moonbounce operation on 50, 144, 432 and 1296 MHz. I may not be on all weekend, but at least Saturday evening and perhaps Sunday morning until noon. I will try to find a spot with reasonably good take-off from North to South-East. Operation will be in random WSJT only. My equipment will be a single 9-ele-F9FT yagi and maximum 150W RF power into the antenna. From the site I will not have access to the Internet or DX-Clusters, but these shall not be used in that contest anyway. I plan to operate Saturday Random Hour from DN81 and possibly DN80. I have not yet decided where I will operate from for Sunday Random Hour. On Tuesday, W1JJ and I both worked XW1A on 6m EME. Currently, the antenna at XW1A/XW1B is only an old 5 element yagi, but they now have made arrangements to obtain four of the 10 element YU7EF yagis and plan to assemble a fully steerable array for 6m EME. I am sure they will be very active on Es next summer with their new array, too. VY 73 and GUD DX! He has built an interface and is currently working on an antenna. His locator is EL83we in Boca Ciega just east of Havana City. His plans are to listen and send CQ's on 50.260MHz, and he is planning to be active during the upcoming Geminids. Internet access is very limited there, so he will not be on PJC, but I am sure he would appreciate anyone hearing him to make his presence known there. I am his QSL manager.
