C Class Solar Flare & CME
On Friday December 12, 2008 fleeting sunspot group #11009 produced
a C class solar flare before setting around the west limb of the Sun.
This is the first C class solar flare since April 03, 2008. Also a
filament eruption occurred in the northwest quadrant of the Sun
beginning at approximately 0615 UTC. This produced a weak partially
geo-effective (Earth facing) coronal mass ejection (CME) that "may"
impact Earth's geomagnetic field in a minor way (Kp 3) on or about

VHF DXpedition to NAMIBIA (JG73NI) January 2009
A major VHF DXpedition to Namibia in January 2009 that will include
operation on a number of VHF bands and modes is in the final
planning stages. The team will be led by HB9CRQ, one of Europes
top EME operators and will include moonbounce operation on 50,
144, 432 and 1296 MHz. Dates of operation will be from moonrise on
7th to moonset on 16th January 2009. QTH will be in Luderitz Namibia,
grid locator JG73NI. We have applied for a special call for our
DXpedition. As soon as we get it confirmed we will announce it.
