![]() Hallo dear MMMonVHF friends, please find below our latest NEWSLETTER of the VHF-DX-Portal "Make More Miles on VHF" (www.MMMonVHF.de) dated 2009-02-13 We attempt to distribute our Newletter one or two times per week. For further detail please be so kind and refer at our "News"-page: http://www.mmmonvhf.de/latest.php - welcome and enjoy... ************************************************** *************** Latest NEWS/INFO for the NEWSLETTER MMMonVHF The VHF-DX-Portal ************************************************** *************** Hello to all VHF friends, many of you will remember TV-tower station LY2WR from 1980-90's. I am glad to confirm, that we now are QRV again and like before, can't live without clear horizon ![]() KO24FO is very remote place, so remote that it is often impossible to reach during winter months, only if in good landrover or tank. Good thing is that there is no industry around, therefore very low levels of QRM. Not so good that it is 50km from Vilnius and obviously we will be active mostly during contests and extreme DX openings. As for contests, be sure to arrange sked with LY2WR, we are now capable of 800-900km without tropo. A few words about last BCC MS contest. It was our target during second part of 2008, during which time we built the new LY2WR station. The contest itself was great fun as always, many old friends called, as well as many new stations, which is nice. Not so nice was total lack of supervision from BCC organizers - sked- and half-sked QSOs were happening all the time, not because people want to cheat, but because of lack of information from Contest Committee on what exactly is a sked, what you can do and what you can not, on ON4KST chat and DX-Cluster. For example "I now CQ dir West" - is 20% of sked info to my understanding, no? About LY2WR QSL cards. During this QRT time, we may have lost some unanswered QSLs, if you need LY2WR QSL please email with QSO data. You can see our new QTH and BCC MS Contest photos he http://www.printqsl.com/lyac/262/ly2wr-2008/ 73 and cu on bands Rytis LY4U and Arvydas LY3BF - SOURCE: tnx Rytis direct to MMMonVHF *** Justin G0KSC sent following message from the MMM Webside: Hi, I just wanted to let you know of my website which includes many OWA Yagi designs by myself. My target is to acheive low SWR wide band Yagis with a clean pattern and hopefully, as short as possible. There is quite a collection now ofr 6,4 and 2 metre bands so hope fully, some MMM users will find some use for these. It is numbered #11012 by NOAA/SWPC. Solar cycle 23 is now 12 years and 11 months long from first spot to present one, a further extension of the already record long solar cycle!!! SOURCE: NZ4O Propagation-List *** It is with deep sadness that I inform you that Jim (VK9NS) passed peacefully away on Norfolk Island at 15:40 local time on 10 February 2009 after a short illness.
