As always, you never know - "Work First Worry Later" (WFWL). 7P, LESOTHO. Jun, JH4RHF/OE1ZKC, has plans to be active from here starting September 24th for one week (until October 2nd). He has requested the callsign 7P8RH. Jun states to OPDX, "Actually it is an 'excursion' after my duty trip to South Africa. Everything will be arranged by famous DX Safari by ZS6WPX." His equipment will be: 15m Mobile trailer with Cushcraft A4S (+40m); 12/17m beam stacked on top; Vertical for 40m and 80m (+trap for 160m) and a Yaesu FT1000MP w/TL922. This will be a one man effort, and he hopes to be active as much as possible. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, SSB, CW and RTTY (probably more CW/RTTY than SSB); SSTV on request(?). He hopes to do some RTTY for the WW RTTY Contest during the weekend. Jun may stay on the low bands longer due to the propagation. QSL via OE1ZKC. 9H, MALTA. Several members of the Dutch VRZA will be active from Qawra (JM75fv), starting September 10th through October 3rd. The callsign for the group will once again be 9H0VRZ. However, group members will also use their individual 9H3 callsign. Activity will be on all bands from 80-6 meters, CW, SSB and Digital modes. Also, 160 meters activity is planned from Baghria together with some Maltese amateurs using a 150 ft. high antenna. They will try to activate their special callsign 9H0VRZ for the whole period and hope for good conditions. Operator Nico, PA0MIR, will try and operate in both legs of the SAC Contest and may try some casual operations in the WAE SSB Contest. Also, he may look for Oceania stations the first weekend of October if the antennas will stay up in good form. Gianni, I1HYW, informs OPDX that the Dynamic DX Charterhouse (www.ddxc.net) and the Worldwide Antarctic Program's (WAP - www.ddxc.net/wap) "NEW" QSL Antarctic and Sub Antarctic's Gallery is now available to visit via their Web pages. Just to summarize: The Gallery contains 677 pictures, split into 53 Albums and 11 Categories. They are continuing to insert more Antarctic pictures such as Bases and operators (there are more than 1000 waiting to be on added to the gallery). DXCC STATUS OF TT8M AND TT8AMO. Dennis, PA7FM, reports to OPDX that there were a few validation problems at first for DXCC credit for the TT8M and TT8AMO cards. Several people could not get credit as there was an "out of date" problem with the QSL cards. These problems have been solved, and the final operational dates for TT8M and TT8AMO are July 31st through June 19th. Those who got a TT8M or TT8AMO QSOs rejected for DXCC should go back to the ARRL to get the QSO(s) validated. Dennis thanks Bill Moore, NC1L, for his help in fixing the problem. Meanwhile, Dennis states that direct QSL cards for both TT8M and TT8AMO are still being answered as soon as possible. Direct cards with insuffucient return postage or no return envelope will be returned as bureau cards. HC, ECUADOR. Dr. Rick will be active again as HC1MD between September 20-25th. His activity will be mainly on the WARC bands CW. QSL via K8LJG. IOTA NEWS.................. AS-076. JA5BEX/5 and JN4MBO/5 were active this past weekend from Kisaka Island in the Kagawa Pref. QSL via their home callsign either direct or via the bureau. AS-129. David, BA4DW, will be active as BA4DW/7 from Nan'ao Island, September 8-13th. No bands/modes of activity were provided. Andrea, IZ0EHO, will be active as ID9/IZ0EHO from Isola Lipari (IIA ME-001 and MIA MI-053), September 7-18th. Activity will be on the HF bands and 6 meters, SSB and the Digital modes. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau. EU-030. Klaus, DJ4JI, will be active as OZ/DJ4JI from Bornholm Island (DIA BO-001 for the Danish Islands Award) now through September 10th. EU-061 (Cancelled)/ EU-062. Trond, LA9VDA, informs OPDX that the LA6Q's trip to IOTA EU-061 Svenner Lighthouse in September is off due to many problems. Instead they will be active from IOTA EU-062 Helligvaer (Helligvær). Operators will be LA6YEA/Paul, LA8AJA/Andy and LA9VDA/Trond. Activity will take place between October 19-26th. Operations will be on CW/SSB/RTTY on 80-17 meters. Michael, DK5NA, will be active as OZ/DK5NA/p from Roemoe Island (DIA NS-001 for the Danish Islands Award), now through September 23rd. Activity will be mostly on the lower bands, CW, RTTY and Hell. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau. NA-028. Bill, K4XS, will be active as AL0/K4XS from Saint Paul Island (USI AK-041S), Pribilof Islands, Alaska, between September 7-15th. He expects to be active on 40/20 meters CW between 0000-0700z daily, time permitting. There is a possibility of some SSB activity. Bill will especially listen for Europe during their sunrise. QSL K4XS "DIRECT ONLY". J3, GRENADA. PZK and SPDX Club members Wojciech/SP9PT and Marek/SP9BQJ will be going here to be active between October 26th and November 8th. They have confirmation of their licences and will receive callsigns after their arrival (they will probably use J3/SP9PT and J3/SP9BQJ). Activity will be 40-6 meters, and depending on their local situation, also 80/160 meters. Modes will be CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via their home callsigns. NP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. Ann/W2AZK (at least for now; new call pending) and Brian/KF2HC will be part of the NP2B team during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as Multi/? entry. They will join operators NP2B, WD4R, W4OV, W4DTA, W1RG, K9VV and possibly others. QSL via NP2B. ADDED NOTE: Ann will also do the Sweepstakes Phone Contest from St. Thomas using her new callsign which is pending. PY, BRAZIL (Lighthouse Activity). Rogaciano, PY1NEZ, will be active as PY1NEZ/6 from the Corumbau Lighthouse (ARLHS BRA-130) in the Bahia State, September 20-30th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters SSB. His suggested frequencies a 7051, 14221, 21221 and 28351 kHz. During this time he may also activate the following lighthouses: BRA-084 - Porto Seguro, BRA-012 – Belmonte, BRA-003 – Alcobaça, BRA-119 – Barreira do Prado and BRA-088 – Rio Doce. This special event station was activated by the "Skandinavisk Radioklubb" during the Reg1 Field Day this past weekend. The multi-operation commemorated the centennial anniversary of the dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway. NOW ON LISTED ON THE LOTW. Bill, AK0A, reports that the logs for TI9M and T30WB are now available on the "Logbook of The World" (LoTW). QSL CORRECTION. Luis, EA5KY, mistakenly provided the wrong QSL Manager for the TI0SP operation (See OPDX.724). QSL Manager is EA7FTR and not EA5FTR. QSL TM0JPL via F5TBX. Activity was from Pompignac (DPT 33 France) to commemorate the twinning of the cities of Lerin (Spanish Navarra) and Pompignac (South France near Bordeaux). Finn, VK4LL (OZ2QK), is now back from the Antarctica and was active as VK0DX from the Davis Station. He states that as of August 30th all direct QSLs were answered. Finn states that if you do not receive your QSL card by October (2005) to please write him via E-mail at: DO NOT SEND ANY MORE QSL REQUESTS via the post office box. He has requested the Australian QSL Bureau to forward him the cards received by them but has not received a response. So unfortunately, he can not send you a card if you only sent one via the bureau. Please write to him if this is the case, and he will send you a new postal address to send a direct card with an IRC or green stamp. NO CARDS VIA THE BUREAU. ADDED NOTE: Finn mentions that that there will be two amateur radio operators at the Davis Station between November 2005 and February 2006. One of the operators will stay until the end of 2006. NEW ADDRESS. QSL ZL2HE to: Arthur E. Law, P.O. Box 368, Dannevirke 5491, NEW ZEALAND. SPECIAL (FRENCH) EVENTS.............. The 27th HamExpo will be held October 22-23rd in Auxerre, Burgundy, and is said to be one of the most important Ham shows in Europe just behind Friedrichshaffen. HamExpo which was founded in 1978 by Pierre Michel, F9AF (ham gear builder) and his daughter Christiane, F5SM, who has been with the French IARU Society Ref-Union organization since 1996. During the Hamexpo weekend, and especially from the Event Hall, the callsign F5REF (REF-Union's callsign) will be aired on HF and VHF (6/2 meters), CW, SSB, PSK and if asked RTTY and SSTV. All contacts with F5REF will be confirmed automatically via the bureau. Those who choose the direct way, QSL via Pierre, F2WS (w/SAE + IRC). The Yonne area hams will use the special callsign TM3DR in rememberance of Roland, F3DR (SK), who was very involved in Yonne ham activities. Look for TM3DR from October 8-21st, on HF and VHF (6/2 meters), CW, SSB, PSK and if asked RTTY and SSTV. All contacts with TM3DR will be confirmed automatically via the bureau. TK, CORSICA. Vasek, DL4FF, will be active again as TK/DL4FF now through September 30th. Reference numbers a IOTA EU-014, IIA TK-001 and MIA MCO-001. Activity will be on 160-10 meters CW/SSB. Dirk, PA9KW, will be active as VK5AUQ from here with Ben, VK5ZZM, between October 16th and November 14th. Activity will be on all bands and modes. XL/XM/XN/XO, CANADA (Special Event). Industry Canada has authorized the use of the following special callsign prefixes to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Terry Fox's run across Canada. All Canadian Radio Amateurs are encouraged to use these special prefixes for the month of September.
