It didn't seem so far away from topic as to justify not answering an honest question from a newbie who might well not know the difference between SWL DX and ham DX. It was an honest mistake, and I'm pretty surprised (and dismayed) at the way this dead horse is being beaten. Digging deeper, though, I do think I see the cause of the problem since you said "ham dx". ( I failed to notice the word ham in the thread title. Most definitely my fault.) I didn't realize it was for hams...amateur dx sure sounded appropriate for an MW DX question. The newsgroup name is a bit misleading, IMO. I'm an amateur, and I'm trying to dx. g I'd have thought that the name for a ham group would have been more specific, like rec.radio.ham.dx. shrug If rec.radio.amateur.dx is just for -ham- comms, then it would seem that there just isn't a group for MW DX questions, at least carried by my news server. Saying that an MW post didn't belong in the dx group but belonged over in the shortwave group threw me, especially since I lurked here for awhile before posting, and saw numerous posts about dxing in general. Go figure. Oh well...live and learn. So, mea culpa in spite of IMO understandable mistakes. g I'm sorry for the hassle, and I'll be sure to wipe the dust off of my shoes as I leave. |
