I have been trying for months to get hold of a good working HF solid state radio for around AUD$400-00 but no luck. If you ever wonder why chaps in rare places are not ON AIR it is because it is a HUGE problem to buy anything or get anything repaired. This is not sour grapes just stating reality. Why not buy a vacuum tube rig with discrete components -- one that you can
repair Or an older hybrid -- i.e. discrete components with vacuum tube finals e.g. Kenwood TS-830S which is an excellent transceiver and includes the WARC bands -- easy to repair compared to the latest rigs with micro components.
