Default Newbie in need of first set!

I'm taking my Technician-class exam soon, and am going to be needing a
radio.
I have very little money available to invest in this, so I was
wondering if somebody had one they didn't need and could sell for
cheap.
A simple 2-meter transceiver will work fine for me; I've heard it's a
popular band. However, a multiband one would be nice...
I've only got about $50 max to spend here, maybe a tiny bit more. I'd
be willing to build or scrounge up some pieces, e.g. speaker box,
microphone, antenna, cables, etc. so if it's missing a few
accessories, that's OK.
Can someone help me out?

Thanks!

I have a nice older radio in good condition that I could sell you for $50
plus shipping. Shipping to San Jose shouldn't be much at all. E-mail me, the
mail's good.
