After a 20 year hiatus from activity, I'm getting the shack going again. I
dusted off the old Icom 22S and discovered no one could hear me because the rig doesn't have sub-audible tones. Even the old simplex watering holes are using tone squelch. Is D-STAR going to be the next 'tone squelch'? Should I get a D-STAR rig to stay ahead of obsolescence, or would it be a waste of money? -- Bob D. ND9B |

ND9B The CTCSS encode is a VERY EASY fix - either an internal (SS-64) OR external (TE-32) encoder board. Communication Specialists http://www.com-spec.com/index1.htm SS-64 CTCSS encoder (internal) http://www.com-spec.com/ss64.htm IC-22S install instructions for the SS-64 http://www.com-spec.com/instsht.htm w9gb |
