Default Radio Registration (Nazi style Radio Registration is here?? Will the ARRL support it ??)

I live in Israel. In order to buy anything that transmits, you have
to get a license from the Ministry of Communication. Amateur radios
are NOT excempt, you have to call a nice lady named Miriam and she
sends you a permit, and adds it to your license.

Not only is the permit necessary, but the tax on electronics is 62%
(used to be 125%), while the tax on ham radio gear is 18%.

I know a medical doctor doing research in the effect of RF on heart patients
who ordered an MFJ tuner from the states for $100 plus shipping. When he
finaly got out of customs the lab had paid $325 for it. (125% tax on the
unit and shipping plus customs fees)

Just imagine if everytime you wanted to buy a radio you had to get
a permit from the FCC. IMHO STAY AWAY FROM IT.

Interesting. Do Israelis need to have pre-authorization for home brewed
transmitters, also? I assume so ...??
