Default IC706IIG warm-up problem

Hello all,
Looking for a few clues on a problem that two of us are having with
the IC706IIG. On a cool day - say about 15C - both sets are fine at
switch-on but about 15-30 minutes later, the transmitted and received
audio becomes very noisy. Then, as the sets warm up, the problem
disappears. It only seems to happen on frequencies above 60 MHz and
looking at the audio out for a single input frequency, the spectrum
appears to be smeared all over the audio bandwidth. I feel that a PLL is
dropping out of lock somewhere but haven't managed to track it down yet.
If anyone has had a similar experience or knows what the problem is, I'd
be most grateful for any help.
