I'm almost finished restoring a 1960s Hammarlund
CB-23 base station. The date code on some of the parts indicates the set was built in 1963 (or at least those parts were made in '63). I need 3 crystals to complete the electrical restoration: Y106 = 25.335 MHz Y109 = 25.375 MHz Y110 = 25.385 MHz I'll buy a whole parts rig if I have to, but I'd prefer to buy just those crystals. And yes, I'm aware of the multitude of crystal houses out there, and I've done business with most of them over the years. I'm trying to keep the cost down. If I buy them new, those three little rocks will cost me $45 to $60! 73, Dean K5DH |

I have a whole load of CB crystals that came from Sonar. They are in
the small holders. What size holders does it use? 73 Gary K4FMX On Tue, 13 Apr 2004 12:54:19 GMT, (K5DH) wrote: I'm almost finished restoring a 1960s Hammarlund CB-23 base station. They're the small holders with wire leads (as opposed to
plug-in pins). HC-18/U, I think (or is it HC-25/U?) With a 25 MHz operating frequency, I'm going to assume they are 3rd overtone. 73, Dean K5DH In article , says... Sorry to report that I can't find them! I thought I had several small
drawers with CB crystals of various frequencies. They may be around here somewhere. I spent about an hour looking for them but no luck. I will look some more when I get a chance. 73 Gary K4FMX On Tue, 13 Apr 2004 18:31:35 GMT, (K5DH) wrote: They're the small holders with wire leads (as opposed to plug-in pins). Most of those guys probably have an old 23 channel solid state rig in the parts bin somewhere that they'll give you to cannibalize for crystals. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. You will need to find a CB that was built earlier than about 1975. I haven't seen a "local CB shop" since about 1975. I must hang out in the wrong circles. I wasn't aware that anyone tried to make a living fixing CB's anymore. -Chuck Harris |
