Hey...
Kinda off topic, but just FYI to everyone in this group: TO ANYONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A HEADSET FOR THEIR CELL PHONE Free-Headset.org is a nationwide wireless phone safety program that provides cell phone users with a free handsfree headset to promote safe driving. Last year Free-Headset.org provided over 33,000 people with free handsfree headsets for their cell phone. Skeptical? Free-Headset.org has been reviewed in many big name national newspapers and magazines such as the New York Times and Popular Science. Please help us make the roads a little safer by getting a headset for your cell phone today. For information on obtaining a free headset for your cell phone, please visit http://www.Free-Headset.org It's fast, easy and free! ![]() Thanks, Ryan |

Statistically, using your cell-phone while driving is a risk factor - using a headset doesn't change that. Ken |

Driving with a cup of coffee in one hand, a cigarette in the other, putting on make-up, while yelling at the kids in the back seat has GOTTA be safer than doing all that with a cellphone in the other hand. mike -- Return address is VALID. You need to try using a hands free device while driving, that has got to
be worse than just using the cell phone! Someone calls or you've got to make a call, you've got to put the @#$%! thing on, seems to be on the same order of trying to pick up several things from the floor of the back seat, or worse. Many studies have shown that cell phones are FAR from the worst distractions while on the road, though they certainly tick people off when they see someone driving carelessly while using one. As for only using one hand, how many hams ALREADY drive that way while on the radio and yet have no problem talking, moving frequency or adjusting something on the radio?? Dick That'll depend what the other hand is doing. Reminds me of the joke (okay, "everyone" knows the guys who really said this, but let's assume it's a joke....): Man has girlfriend in lap while driving at high speed on country highway. Gets pulled over by angry highway patrolman who says "Shouldn't you be using both hands?!". Hero replies "Well I would but I need one to drive." Ken |

Anyway, go search out the stat's, they're available somewhere. Studies in USA, Europe and Australia all agree. I guess we're all just crappy drivers. Ken |

Well, that would be a cel phone I would do without. My Motorola
Startac required no intervention at all to receive a call. The phone was mounted on the dash and hooked to a Motorola hands-free amplifier and visor mounted microphone. When someone called, the phone would answer automatically on the second ring. All I had to do was say, "Hello." Calling took more intervention, but with the new phones that accept voice commands, you never have to touch the phone.
