Some folks say it's junk, but I've never tried one. Radio Shack also sells
'em. "Charles P.L. Stokes" wrote in message news:GpF6e.8630$jd6.2651@trnddc07... Anyone know anything about this Cold Solder Tool they try to sell on TV for $19.95? wb4pvt |

Charles stick with standard 50/50 mix of lead acid solder
for most electrical connections. At 850 F makes good solid connnection, that cold solder gun will not give you that. Also im told in cold weather condx, fittings have been known to come undone. my nickels worth.......... steve in tx......... |

I don't believe anyone would seriously recommend acid core solder for electronics work- a sure fire way to ruin your equipment. 60/40 rosin core has been the industry standard for as long as I can remember. An absolute piece of junk, not even worthy of taking up space in my

Use rosin core solder for electronics. the 50/50 refers to the lead/tin ratio. At 850 F makes good solid connnection, 850 sounds a bit hot; sometimes the 750 on our unit here at work seems a bit hot. -Jason kg4wsv |

Boy, I wonder how long his equipment worked ???
Rosin core solder for electronics, even a real CB'er would know that. Stay away from that cold heat pen, it is not good for electronics.
