Default Car radio installation help

I've recently bought a Citroen AX (1.0 petrol - 1993) and think the
radio has been wired up incorrectly - the radio goes off when the
headlights are turned on!

The radio manual is here (page 27):
http://kenwood.nl.nt.ims.hr/languages/EN/support/manuals/KRC-479R~379R%20(EN).pdf

The speakers are all connected up fine, but I'm not too sure what to
connect the battery (yellow) and ignition (red) to. There are three
wires available, a grey, a grey with red markings at the end, and a
white.

The two grey's are attached to another connector - the same size as
connector A on page 29 of the manual - but is not actually connected to
the radio.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Phil

I'd like to know why the wire colors you have differ from what the
manual says you should have, before offering suggestions.

The wires coming out of the radio are all correct. It's the wires
coming from the dashboard (the two greys and a white) which I'm unsure
need connecting to the radio.

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil
The best way is always to connect directly to the battery. The only way
that you can connect it switchable is using a relay connected directly
to the battery and switched on when the engine is running That's how
most of the high current devices already work on your car, the fuel
pump, the headlights, air conditioning, heater fan, horn and more.

If this was a transceiver, I would agree with you. For an ordinary
"car radio", connect it up to the accessory fuse (if there isn't a
separate radio fuse which most passenger vehicles have nowadays) and
be done with it.

If it's a Citroen, all bets are off.... ggg
