Just bought one and seems to have no O/P.
i get a very faint carrier on another set only and i mean faint !!
RX is fine..
been stood ina loft for 15 years so any possible parts that may have 'died'
over time..
observations are..
no valve glow..
no IC.
very high ALC
i have checked screws/earth etc..
i have removed valves abd checked for obvious damage,
i have checked wires and joints etc..
i only have the ACC plug in the back, you don't need the VFO one to make a
PA circuit do you ??

if it is the valves gone, whats the rough price these days for the 12b and
6js6..
sorry to go on,
i hoped to be using this this week too....
mni tnx..mark..

Take out ALL the vertical boards. Get some good quality cleaner and spray
the sockets strips they came out of. Take a pencil eraser and clean the
copper plated connectors on the boards.

Then take the cleaner and spray ALL the band switches, rotaries, etc. Let
dry.

Since you said no Valve (tubes) lit you either don't have the heaters turned
on or the jumper in the plug in the rear is not hooked up. I don't
remember which pins that is. Get a book.

If still no joy, drop me a e-mail at and follow
my SPAM catchers instructions.

I'd recommend using a nonabrasive cleaner rather than a pencil eraser.
I've heard some stories, over the years, about adverse effects from
bits of the rubber and abrasive floatig around in equipment chassis.

When I had a poor-contact problem with a Ten-Tec Scout I'd purchased,
I was advised to clean the board-edge connectors and sockets for the
plug-in band modules. I scrubbed 'em down with DeOxIt and some Q-tips
and paper towels, put the 40-meter module back in, and it worked
perfectly and continues to do so until today.

Dried-out electrolytic capacitors can be another problem with older
gear, especially glassFET models which tend to run hot.
