Default Yaesu FT-857 vs. FT-897

Does the Yaesu FT-897 essentially have the same receiver & transmitter as
the FT-857? If yes, then why does the 897 weigh about 40% more? Besides
battery operation what does the 897 have over the 857? Thanks in advance for
any comments.

Never used either, but have seen both up close. Off hand, I can see
that the larger housing, with internal brackets to hold batteries, plus the
larger display, would be contributing a lot to the weight difference.
