? My Ft 480 has developed a odd fault ..
when first turned on from cold rx works fine, but set will not go to tx when mic pressed-in all modes- (or cw key) wait about 30 seconds with mic/key pressed - then it go's to tx and works fine from cold, there is no click from the t/r relay .. once it had wored , keeps running fine .. any one seen this before ? ... i assume its may be a relay .. but that dont explain why there is no responce at turn on ? Tnx G .. |

Have you tried doing a microprocessor reset?? The one in my truck started
doing all kinds of weird stuff after a severe lightening storm... did the partial reset, and all was right with the world again. -n6ojn "Graham" wrote in message oups.com... ? It sounds like an auto tuner having a hard time getting a match.
30 seconds is an awfully long time though. On 14 Apr 2006 04:10:57 -0700, "Graham" wrote: ? yes - ft480-r
tnx - well managed to download the book from dk.mods .there is a fault/flow chart for no tx ... . the relay is top of the list but there looks like a input from the ppl - if its not locked then it wont go to tx .. now the rigs 700 hz off freq (LF) ... so may be needs the freq needs setting and all will be ok .. |

It sounds more like the PLL, but it's a long long time since I looked in the guts of my 480 or 780. I think I have the actual service manual for it at home somewhere so I'll try and hunt it down tonight. Ken |
