Looking for a good Cabrillo type logging program for the upcoming CQWW
CW contest - logging each contact by hand and then transferring to a home made logging sheet gets kinda old pretty quick... Needs to be in Cabrillo format for submission. Any suggestions? Prefer free or small fee (under $50). Thanks. John reply here or: john _ stlmo at yahoo dot com |

The most user friendly program is at www.n3fjp.com
It's a great program, user friendly (don't even really need to read the help files to get started), automatically checks for duplicates, allows monitoring the online DX clusters if you are so inclined, allows rig control if you are so inclined, allows keying the radio from the computer if you are so inclined, creates Cabrillo files for contest submission and adif files for importing into general logging programs. There's other neat features but that's a good start. It is also quite inexpensive. Dee, N8UZE "John" wrote in message ... N1MM's LOGGER program... Can be used as a simple logging program.. But
has all the bells-n-whistles you can imagine (and some you can't) if you want to use all its features... Has a community of users who will help you and a chat group... And is free - not shareware, or pay me later - f r e e ....... Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/N1MMLogger/ enjoy - denny / k8do who has used most of the logging / rig control, programs out there, is a life time subscriber to TRLOG, CT. and others, and N1MM is among the best... Needs to be in Cabrillo format for submission. Any suggestions? Prefer free or small fee (under $50). XPost & Fup to rec.radio.amateur.misc. My first choice (for single OP, unassisted): CT(Win) by K1EA, available at http://www.k1ea.com/. It's free, easy to use and offers all features you'll need to get started. Saves the log in Cabrillo format, export to ADIF possible to import it into your general purpose logging program. CT is one of the most used contest loggers for many years now, for a good reason. More advanced: Win-Test (http://www.win-test.com/). Not free, but worth the price, if you need the rich features it offers. Especially great networking capabilities for multi-operator environments (probably not important in your case), good SO2R support etc. Other free Contest loggers: N1MM (Mentioned in another post. It works fine, but it's a bit too bloated for my taste.), SD (http://www.ei5di.com/ similar to CT). Hope to meet you in CQWW, I'll be Single OP Allband High Power with SO2R (using good old CT). 73, -- Fabian Kurz, DJ1YFK * Dresden, Germany * http://fkurz.net/ Online Log: http://dl0tud.tu-dresden.de/~dj1yfk/log.html |

I agree that N1MM is very good. For a beginner in computer logging of contests, it has a steeper learning curve than the N3FJP programs. While you do have to purchase the N3FJP program, it is so easy and intuitive to use that it is great for the inexperienced. I will admit N3FJP doesn't have quite as many features but it does do all the basic stuff (basic rig control, dxspot access, etc). Again that makes it good for contest beginners. Here is my list of preferred contest logging programs in order: 1. N3FJP if he has one for the particular contest. 2. N1MM when there is not an N3FJP program available 3. GENLOG when neither of the above has a program or module for the contest. Dee, N8UZE |

All the other software that I have experimented with takes time to get familiar with. Dee, N8UZE |
