How do you get the VFO knob to come off? Do you just pull? There is no
screw on the knob itself. The VFO knob is now so loose it's impossible to tune so I have to get in there. Any help appreciated! TIA! Bubba |

TIA! Bubba I wouldn't "just pull" on that knob if it won't come off the shaft easily. You can do a lot of damage to the VFO, including pulling the shaft completely out of the assembly, if you are not careful. I would take the rig to an amateur-radio repair shop and have their technicians look at it. The fact that the knob on your radio is as loose as you say it is (and that you cannot tune the VFO) leads me to believe there may be other problems, such as a slipping clutch or defective brake mechanism (some rigs, such as my Icom IC-725, have adjustable braking for the tuning dial to adjust the stiffness or looseness [for want of a better phrase] of the VFO knob, to allow for personal preferences). The shaft may have somehow become disengaged from the VFO itself, which would make it absolutely impossible to tune. In any case, I'd take that rig to a repair station. The Yaesu FT-757GX is a good (if technologically old) rig, so it would be worth having it repaired.
