Hi John
No, A voice keyer for contests etc. I use the VoiceKey Express software but I have to highlight the programme to activate the keyer and then activate the logging programme to log the station. If I had an external keyer hooked up to the rig it would get over this problem de Denis EI6HB "John R. Strohm" wrote in message ... "Denis O' Flynn" wrote in message ... OK, I've been out of ham radio for a lot of years. What *IS* a voice keyer?
Is this a solid-state voice recorder/player, that lets you can certain phrases the way a CW memory keyer lets you can CW fragments, to make it easier to do contesting, or is there more to it? Inquiring minds want to know... "Denis O' Flynn" wrote in message ... Radio Shack used to sell a voice chip in a kit that let you record and play
back either 10-15 seconds of audio, or another one that I think could have 4 messages up to 5 seconds each. All you had to do was add a battery. Many modified this into an enclosure with relay for PTT for a one-button voice keyer. I think the chip is still available, but not from Radio Shack. Try some of the electronic supply houses. You could probably easily then make the interface from the pc to the voice kit. Alternatively, there are a number of logging programs that have the capability for voice keyers right in the software. I think Logger and N1MM are 2 of them, and N1MM is free. N1MM is a contesting software being developed by N1MM, but a also a group effort. Keying is CW, voice, Data modes. Visit n1mm.com. Good luck. The respective upper pass band limits are 4.5 , 3.4 and 2.7 kHz. They have an onboard mic amplifier , automatic gain control ,antialiasing and smoothing filters and a speaker amplifier. A number of units can be cascaded to increase overall Record/Playback duration. Frank GM0CSZ / KN6WH |
