Wow! I picked that book up at a hamfest brand new a few years back for
$21.95, the list price.....I don't know what is so magical about this book
that copies are selling above $100 (in some cases way above...). It's a
great reference but I wouldn't pay more than cover price for it.

Sorry 'bout that, I had no idea.....just looked at the cover price when I
was listing recommendations.

I was very interested in all that talk about how

much Tektronics sucks
although after reading most of it I don't think

it reflects my concerns.

I just recently bought an old 465 and am

learning to use it and I was
wondering if with so many knowledgable folks

somebody could recommend a good
book which would teach the intricacies of using

this level of equipment.

Here's a thought for you. If you don't get QST
then you should sign up and get it. Every month
they have a tutorial on basic electronics using
your basic meter, function generator, scope etc to
make measurements. I would assume from your
comments that you don't have much experience using
test equipment so these tutorials are a good way
for you to learn and have some fun doing it too.

A second idea would be to check out your local
technical college or university library. They just
may have books that cover the use of a scope for
general trouble shooting of stereos, TV's etc.
That would be a good way to learn the many ways a
scope can be used and it may not cost you a penny
to check-out the books for home study.

Good luck;

Try this book title common on ebay about $ 20 usd or less.

Use of the Oscilloscope

a programmed text by charles h. roth. Jr.

It is a self study type manual with questions and answers
along with explanation and use of the scope functions.

In addition to the recommended books, take a look at Tek's "XYZs of
Oscilloscopes",
http://www.tek.com/Measurement/funda...es_English.pdf.
You can find other useful information by going to the Tek website,
http://www.tektronix.com, and selecting Manuals, then Classroom & Lab
Resources from the Resources group at the left.

Hopefully with good hands on examples and not on a trivial level which tells
me to wear eye protection when using any Tektronics product.
