Hello, everyone.
Today, the FCC has decided to allow the manufacturers of BPL the ability to regulate thier emissions under Part 15 so that they do not interfere with other services on the HF bands (2 Mhz - 30 Mhz). Given the way we have all percieved business to operate to benefit the stockholders rather than the public, it seems to me that the demons of the underworld would sooner be able to enjoy ice skating, than for BPL to be willing to police itself. And, as you well know, FCC Chairman Powell is a thirty-something Bush political appointee and an ideologue of the first order. He has sold the soul of Amateur Radio down the river, all in the name of business above all other things. He is an examplar of all that is presently wrong with the Bush administration. I would strongly recommend that we all vote a Democratic into the White House, just so that said person can replace Powell with someone who will let us live. In the meantime, sell your gear boys and girls, because Ham on the HF bands is about to go QRT from massive interference. The Eternal Squire --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.564 / Virus Database: 356 - Release Date: 1/19/04 |

Oh, Hell no, I was once a young liberal Democrat (voted for JFK) but have seen the nation eroded over the years to it's present level. I'd vote for a Frenchman ere I'd vote for another Democrat. I really don't think it matters if it's a democrat or republican in the White House... Powell it just a political appointee who really has no clue as to how radio works. Doesn't matter if the head of the FCC was appointed by a democrat or republican president... whoever they appoint is most likely totally ignorant of the department they head. They are all politicians and bureaucrats first, and knowlegable about radio second. He will do whatever helps him, not what benefits HF radio. However, he has no idea what kind of quagmire he is going to get into when BPL causes such massive interference that the FCC will surely have to put an end to it. -- Tom Sevart N2UHC Frontenac, KS http://www.geocities.com/n2uhc |
