Default DTV disk on ham?

Hi Group,

Picked up a few good Direct TV disks around the local area. The LNA on them
says 12.8GHz.

Can anyone point me to a site or give me some general infomation on this
things? I would assume that the cable between the receiver and LNA also supply
the DC voltage.

Is there any other band I could use the disk for? How about using it for the
2.4GHz or 5.8GHz band where there are video link equipment avaliable.

I would guess that the dish would have too little gain below 10ghz to
be useful.
