I'd like to build a 6m SSB amp that uses about 10-14
watts of drive and delivers at least 100w. Anyone know of plans online for one? Ken KG0WX |

Good Luck Frank GM0CSZ / KN6WH it was used in a construction (QST) 20 years ago, and the writer mentioned it was somewhat dated then, not to easy to get gain. the only reason to use it was the price, so I wonder if it is difficult to find a better device now? My first 6m amplifier from '85 used BLY94 because it was free, but it cannot give more than 60-70W 73 jm --- J. M. Noeding, LA8AK, N-4623 Kristiansand http://home.online.no/~la8ak/c.htm |

Ken KG0WX I went this route a few years back, built a push-pull MRF476(?) with bias for SSB, and after messing around with it for almost a year rewinding transformers and playing with bias and tank caps trying to get more than 100 watts or so in RF instead of heat I wish I'd just bought a Mirage or TE and started my current project sooner, building a 6m/2m amp with a GS35B, http://www.nd2x.net/yu1aw-6n2.html on http://www.nd2x.net/base-1.html If you really want to build in addition to articles there's http://www.communication-concepts.com/ with stuff like http://www.communication-concepts.com/ar313.htm My advice: I think 100w+/- solid state amps are cheap enough to buy used and not build. If you want to build don't waste your time below +55 dBm, go for the legal limit. 73! -Galen |

It should be capable of 3-400W amateur standard performance with -30dB IMD with only 600V high voltage, see http://home.online.no/~la8ak/d6.htm 73 jm --- J. M. from the hospital, nursery, or morgue;
you can at least get rid of all the leftovers in your refrigerator. 1 - 2 lbs. cubed meat (human flesh, chicken, turkey, beef...) 1 -2 lbs. coarsely chopped vegetables (carrots, potatoes, turnips, cauliflower, cabbage...) Bell pepper onions garlic ginger salt pepper, etc. Olive oil butter Brown the meat and some chopped onions, peppers, and garilic in olive oil, place in baking dish, layer with vegetables seasoning and butter. Bake at 325° for 30 - 45 minutes. Serve with hot dinner rolls, fruit salad and sparkling water. Bébé Buffet 1 Show off with whole roasted children replete with apples in mouths - and babies? heads stuffed with wild rice. Or keep it simple with a hearty main course such as stew, lasagna, or meat loaf. Some suggestions Pre-mie pot pies, beef stew, leg of lamb, stuffed chicken, roast pork spiral ham, Cranberry pineapple salad, sweet potatoes in butter, vegetable platter, tossed salad with tomato and avocado, parsley new potatoes, spinich cucumber salad, fruit salad Bran muffins, dinner rolls, soft breadsticks, rice pilaf, croissants Apple cake with rum sauce, frosted banana nut bread sherbet, home made brownies Iced tea, water, beer, bloody marys, lemonade, coffee The guests select food, beverages, silverware... everything from the buffet table. They move to wherever they are comfortable, and sit with whoever they choose. Provide trays so your guests will not spill everything all over your house from carrying too much, nor will they have to make 10 trips back and fourth from the service stations. Roast Leg of Amputee By all means, substitute lamb or a good beef roast if the haunch it is in any way diseased. But sometimes su |

A Svetlana 4CX800 is a LOT cheaper. Many would recommend the 4Cx400A for the power level he wants but you can (strangly enough) buy the 4CX800's for about the same price as the 4CX400As. These tetrodes are usually run passive grid driven (IE: 50 ohm grid resistor) but they can also be run cathode driven. NOTE: this does not mean grounded grid since both grids receive normal dc voltages are are grounded ONLY for RF (IE: with capacitors). BTW you can do the same thing with good old 4CX250's and 4X150's if you can find good ones cheap surplus. |
