Hi,
Not sure this is the right spot to post this so please forgive me if its not. I have an Icom IC2-SRA 2mtr/scanner. The batter pack died on it and before I could replace it, the memory battery also went south. I used to be able to power it up with the plug in PS and listen to it but now it doesn't power up at all. PS is ok. I tried the reset for the processor but still nothing. Short of sending it in to Icom for repair, I thought I would ask for any advice here as to how to bring this rig back to life. I know I need to change the batteries, but will that get the rig working again, since its not operating off the PS now? Does anyone have any experience with these handie talkies? TIA 73, Brian |

TIA 73, Brian The PS may be sufficient to trickle charge the batteries, not enough to actually power the unit. This is very typical for HTs. The battery may be a necessary part of the circuit, even when running from wall power. It may be less expensive to buy the AA battery pack and drop in regular alkalines or rechargables. A good dealer who does service on Icoms should be able to explain your options. Replacing the internal memory battery is no biggie for a service center. It may be preventing a proper reset. Any help is appreciated. TIA. Brian The www.icomamerica.com site will help with dealers. AES and HRO do not appear to have anything in TX. There is Texas Towers (which sells a full range of ham radio gear) somewhere down there in Plano, but my Texas geography is a bit sketchy. Not sure they have retail or just the online. There are also Icom amateur radio dealers in Austin, Houston/Spring, and Lubbock. It is possible that some of the land mobile Icom dealers could help as well. Time to work the phone. Bearcom Dallas 4009 Distribution Drive, Suite 200 Dallas, TX 75041 Phone: (800) 252-1691 Fax: (972) 880-7428 E-mail: Products: Land Mobile Breakthrough 3620 Byers Avenue Fort Worth, TX 76107 Phone: (817) 732-7791 Fax: (817) 731-8335 Products: Land Mobile This should get you started.
