If you missed it see:
http://users.adelphia.net/~n2pk/ I would like to build one so I asked on the use net http://groups.yahoo.com/group/N2PK-VNA/ if anyone had a parts kit. The response I received to date has been an offer for the PCB's and someone else looking for a parts kit. If there are a number of us, we would do best with a group buy. If you have the desire to build one and want to form a group let me know. Please note the delete.this. in my return email address. Richard W9PE |

Richard W9PE Greg Ordy did both a kit offering and completed boards about a year ago. Not sure if he has more planned or not- it was a labor of love. Sorting components into kits is *always* a labor of love. I regularly sort packages of about 1000 components into 10 kits of about 100 each, and almost every component has to be individually sorted into trays and repackaged by hand. Every hand movement takes time, and every second is multiplied by some number between 10 and 1000. I dread to think what kind of grunt-labor rate it's actually earning for me. SMD components are even more difficult and time-consuming to handle, re-package and re-label. Having built an N2PK analyzer, I wouldn't ever consider sorting those parts into kits. It's actually easier to buy the parts yourself, and keep them in the marked bags from Digi-Key or Mouser. N2PK provides a complete shopping list. For people outside of the USA, there is more information on my 'In Practice' pages. Don't worry that the minimum order quantities of Rs and Cs are 50 or 100. SMD components are cheaper than wire-ended - and when an 0805 resistor vanishes into hyperspace, you'll be glad you have some extra! (Also ask yourself: how could a kit maker know which parts you're going to lose?) Above all: if you're really interested, join the Yahoo group. -- 73 from Ian GM3SEK 'In Practice' columnist for RadCom (RSGB) http://www.ifwtech.co.uk/g3sek |
