EA8 - CANARY ISLANDS, AF-004 Franky,ON7RU, will be active as EA8/OQ7R in CW/SSB/RTTY on 80-10m using a FT-990 and wires from Jun 4-13. QSL via ON7RU, bureau or direct. FO/C - CLIPPERTON ISLAND, NA-011 During the "Dayton DX Dinner Banquet" an upcoming activation of Clipperton was announced for March 2008. The team leader will be Bob Grimmick,N6OX. More information will be released at a later date. HI - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, NA-096 IW2NEF/HI7 will be QRV from Bayahibe (NA-096) from Jun 3-9. He will work on 40-10m and 6m using a Yaesu FT-857D with 100 watts and vertical but only for one or two hours a day. QSLs via his homecall. KH8/S - SWAINS ISLAND, OC-200 The first N8S QSLs of the Swains Island DXpedition will be sent on Jun 5. Meanwhile more than 6.000 letters arrived directly at YT1AD. The call N8S has been issued to Dale,K9TTT, in June 2006 and was used by the "Michigan DX Association" before. Dale promised to forward all errant QSLs to YT1AD. TA - TURKEY Mill,LX1CC, will spend his holidays in Turkey from Jun 7-21. His QTH will be the city of Selcuk and he got the special callsign YM3CC. Activities will take place in SSB on 80-10m (including the WARC bands). QSL cards via bureau to his homecall, direct or via eQSL. VP6/D - DUCIE ISLAND, OC-182 First information was released about an upcoming DXpedition to Ducie Island (OC-182) lasting for two weeks around Feb 10, 2008. Licence and landing permission have been guaranteed already. For health reasons Wojtek,SP9PT, had to leave the team which now consists of: SP9MRO (team leader), SP5BFX, SP3MGM, SP6EQZ, SP3RBR, YL SP9SX and SP5XVY. Danuta,SP9SX, will take care of the QSLs. The team left Poland for Mauritius on May 28 and their flight back goes on Jun 18. FRANCE, SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS The "24 Hours of Le Mans" belong to the classics in motor racing and will be held the 56th time this year. TM6ACO will be active in CW/SSB on all bands from Jun 3-17. QSL via F2UW. POLAND, SPECIAL EVENT STATION The special event callsign HF750C celebrates the 750th birthday of the city of Cracow on the air since May 14. This station will be active until Jun 30 (QSL via SP9BRP) supported by several SN0 calls until the end of 2007. SPAIN, SPECIAL EVENT STATION The 32nd America's Cup is the most prestigious event in sailing and this year it is carried out in Europe for the first time off the shore of Valencia. Pascual,EA5FKQ (AO5FKQ), and other OMs from this region will use the special prefix AO5 instead of EA5 until Jul 7. UKRAINE, SPECIAL EVENT STATION The town of Slavutych was founded to be the new home for those persons who had to be evacuated after the nuclear accident in Chernobyl back in 1986. The special event station EO20R is working during this small jubilee from May 28 until Jun 3. QSLs as usual via UY2RO. CQ DX HALL OF FAME Thirty years after Geoff Watts (BRS-3129, publisher of the legendary "The DX News Sheet") was elected into the CQ DX HALL OF FAME the first Italian HAMs received this honour as well. Mauro,I1JQJ, and his XYL Valeria,IK1ADH, publishers of the Italian "425 DX News" were both elected into the CQ DX HALL OF FAME this year. The other new entries are Roger Western,G3SXW, and Nigel Cawthorne,G3TXF, who are travelling together almost all the time. Nigel activated 44 DXCC entities and Roger 37 and both are founding members of the "Voodoo Contest Group". Congratulations!
