As we enter the new year the list of stories that will dominate the talk of
the radio industry in 2016 is already filling up. Sure there will be format
changes, layoffs, and sales that fill up the daily news, a few topics will
overshadow everything in 2016. The B Word Will this be the year Cumulus or
iHeartMedia finally break and file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection?
New Cumulus CEO Mary Berner continues to claim that they wont need to file
for bankruptcy but with $2.5 million in debt due in a couple years and the
stock price stuck

Jack Gives Way To KFM-BFM San Diego

After nine days of stunting, 100.7 KFMB-FM San Diego debuted their new
identity a little after 10:00am this morning as Classic Rock 100.7 KFM-BFM.
Positioning as We Play Whatever. Whenever the station is trying to revert
to its original broad playlist during its early Jack run with a library
better suited to match its morning show. The new name is a play on how the
station used to identify its call letters during its CHR B100 iteration
from the 70s through early 90s. Morning hosts The DSC Dave, Shelley and
Chainsaw and middayer Sara remain in place. Original Report 12/26:

Cumulus Makes New York Programming Appointements

Cumulus Media is shuffling its programming team at its New York music
stations. John Foxx has been named Program Director of Country 94.7 Nash-FM
WNSH filling the opening created by the move of Brian Thomas to WLS-FM
Chicago last July. Foxx had been serving as Assistant PD/Afternoon Host of
Hot AC 95.5 WPLJ after previously holding the PD reigns of both WNSH and
WPLJ. Foxx will continue to host afternoons on WPLJ. Mike Allan has been
promoted from Music Coordinator of WPLJ to Assistant PD of both WNSH and
WPLJ. Melony Torres, who had been hosting middays at 107.3 WRQX

Go 95.3 Minneapolis To Launch Tuesday

Northern Lights confirmed this morning that Rhythmic CHR Go 95.3 KZGO will
launch on Tuesday, January 5. CityPages reports that the station will mix
local and indie artists with the usual Rhythmic pop/Hip-Hop mix. Peter
Parker, who previously worked in the market at the defunct B96 has joined
the station has music director and will host afternoons. Parker was most
recently in afternoons at Radio-One Urban Z107.9 WENZ Cleveland. Original

Bethesda Christian Broadcasting has flipped Christian CHR 97.9 The Point
KTPT Rapid City SD to Christian Worship 97.9 The Breeze. With the move, BCB
is integrating some of KTPTs former programming into sister Power 107.1
KSLT. The syndicated Wally Show will move from mornings on KTPT to nights

Adams Radio Group pulled the plug on Classic Country Great Country 103.3
W277AK Fort Wayne IN this morning to simulcast sister Conservative Talk
1450 The Patriot WLYV. WLYV runs a completely syndicated talk lineup
featuring Salems Bill Bennett, Mike Gallagher and Hugh Hewitt, Dave Ramsey,
Michael Savage, John Batchelor and Red Eye Radio. The move follows
Federated Media downgrading News/Talk 1190 WOWOs FM signal from the full
powered 92.3 WOWO-FM to a translator that does not reach all of the area.
Also in Fort Wayne, the syndicated Bob Tom Show jumped from Federated
Active Rock 98.9 The Bear WBYR

As expected, SummitMedia AC Lite 106.9 WVEZ Louisville rebranded as 106.9
Play at 12:00 this morning. The station is claiming no changes to its
playlist with the new name, however is currently running jockless. Morning
