Missouri Hams Lead the Way, Mirror Amateur Radio Parity Act, HR1301/S1685:

A mirror bill to the Amateur Radio Parity Act, HR1301/S1685, currently
being considered in the US Congress was filed in the State of Missouri
House of Representatives on January 6, 2016. This Bill, HB1951, authored by
Rep. Bryan Spencer (District 63), was initiated by Larry Scantlan, KE0KZ,
of Wentzville, MO. Larry believes that even if the Federal legislation
passes and is signed into law by the President, it doesn't hurt to have
state law to back it up at the local level. This can be seen by Missouri
passing a companion bill back in 2004 reflecting the Federal mandates of
PRB-1.

FCC Seeks Comments on Petition to Grant Lifetime Amateur Radio Licenses:

The FCC is seeking comments on a Petition for Rule Making (RM 11760
- available on the web at,) that asks
the FCC to grant lifetime Amateur Radio licenses. Mark F. Krotz,
N7MK, of Mesa, Arizona, filed his request with the FCC last
November. He wants the FCC to revise Part 97.25 of its rules to
indicate that Amateur Radio licenses are granted for the holder's
lifetime, instead of for the current 10 year term. Krotz noted that
the General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) already is issued
on a lifetime basis, and he maintained that not having to renew
licenses would lighten the FCC's workload.
