/////////////////////////////////////////// 10 MHz for Internet of Things: Posted: 28 Mar 2016 05:01 PM PDT http://www.eham.net/articles/36455 Ofcom has announced measures to help ensure adequate spectrum is available for the so-called Internet of Things, and to encourage investment and innovation in this developing technology. The Internet of Things is set to enable large numbers of previously unconnected devices to communicate and share data with one another, a process known as machine-to-machine communications. Ofcom is allocating a total of 10MHz of VHF spectrum including 70.5-71.5MHz that, in 2015, Ofcom agreed could be used by radio amateurs for digital experimentation using a Special Research Permit. /////////////////////////////////////////// ARRL Tells FCC to Restore Balance of Modes on 80 and 75 Meters: Posted: 28 Mar 2016 09:40 AM PDT http://www.eham.net/articles/36454 In comments filed on March 23 on its Petition for Rule Making (RM 11759) seeking changes to 80 and 75 meters, the ARRL has told the FCC that its primary objective is to "rebalance" the bands by correcting a 10-year old FCC error. /////////////////////////////////////////// DXCC Deletion of Kingman Reef: Posted: 28 Mar 2016 09:41 AM PDT http://www.eham.net/articles/36453 The ARRL Awards Committee has voted to delete Kingman Reef (KH5K) from the DXCC List, effective 29 March, 2016. Kingman Reef will be added to the Deleted Entities List on 29 March, 2016. The total number of entities on the List will drop from 340 to 339. /////////////////////////////////////////// Propagation Forecast Bulletin #13 de K7RA: Posted: 28 Mar 2016 09:40 AM PDT http://www.eham.net/articles/36452 All of the indicators we track were lower over the past week (March 17-23), compared to the previous seven days. Average daily sunspot numbers declined from 51.7 to 28.4, and average daily solar flux was 88.8, compared to 98.6 during the prior seven days. Planetary A index was lower by 3.8 points to 11.9, and average mid-latitude A index (measured in Wallops Island, Virginia) was down from 12 to 8.6. Lower geomagnetic indices are generally considered a good thing for HF propagation. |
