/////////////////////////////////////////// Doc Medek Out; Frank Lario In At WXTU Mornings Posted: 29 Mar 2016 01:39 PM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...wxtu-mornings/ CBS Country 92.5 WXTU Philadelphia is making a change in mornings. Ken Doc Medek is leaving the station on Thursday, March 31 to take a yet-to-be announced position closer to his home in Scranton PA. Taking his place as co-host with Andie Summers will be WXTU weekender Frank Lario. Lario has spent much of his career in Philadelphia working at Rockers 93.3 WMMR and 94.1 WYSP and also was co-founder of Alternative 93.1 WDOX Wildwood Crest NJ. Medek joined WXTU in 2010 from Entercom Country Froggy 101 WGGY Scranton where he served as PD and morning host, but his wife remained in that area for work. He has also programmed CHR 98.5 WKRZ Scranton and 106.1 WBLI Long Island NY. /////////////////////////////////////////// Louie Cruz Named iHeartMedia SVP/Programming For Modesto/Stockton Posted: 29 Mar 2016 11:43 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...destostockton/ Louie Cruz has been promoted from Program Director of iHeartMedia Rhythmic Hot AC 95.7 Kiss-FM KSSX San Diego to Senior VP/Programming of the companys Modesto and Stockton CA stations. Cruz will be responsible for Hot AC B93 92.9 KOSO, Active Rock Rock 96.7 KMRQ, Rhythmic AC Mega 100 KQOD, AC Sunny 102.3 KJSN and Talk simulcast PowerTalk 1280 KWSX/1360 KFIV. He previously worked at the cluster as APD of KQOD from 2001 to 2005 before moving to Bakersfield as PD of 99.3 The Groove KKBB. He has programmed KSSX since July 2013. Will this lead to further changes at KSSX? We reported last week that iHeart had registered a few domains for Jamn 95.7, which the company has launched on KSSX-HD3. Is that a decoy to get us off the scent or what it truly will be used for? iHeartMedia has named Louie Cruz as the Senior Vice President of Programming for Modesto/Stockton, effective immediately. The radio cluster includes Hot AC KOSO-FM, Rhythmic AC KQOD-FM, Active Rock KMRQ-FM, AC KJSN-FM, News/Talk KFIV-AM-and produces notable marquee events. Louie adds the experience were looking for in Modesto, said Steve Geofferies, Executive Vice President, iHeartMedia West Division. This is a terrific opportunity for him to grow as an Senior Vice President of Programming and continue his growth with our company. Cruzs career includes work at KSFM in Sacramento, KXJM in Portland, KSSX in San Diego, KWIN, KWNN and KQOD in Stockton/Modesto, KKBB in Bakersfield and KRTO Santa Maria/Pismo. I grew up in the Central Valley and could not be more excited to take on this new role with iHeartmedia, said Cruz. Going home to oversee the future success of these great radio stations is a dream come true! I do want to say thank you to Andrew Jeffries, Melissa Forrest, John Peake, Jeff Negrete and Steve Geoffries for this incredible opportunity! /////////////////////////////////////////// Syracuse's Wolf On The Move As Family Life Swaps Again Posted: 29 Mar 2016 08:27 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...e-swaps-again/ Syracuse will see another station move to a new frequency as Family Life makes another deal in the market. Family Life closed on its acquisitions of 92.1 WSEN-FM Baldwinsville and 106.3 WMCR-FM Oneida NY from Leatherstocking Media Group, but only WMCR-FM began airing the Family Life programming. After spending a week simulcasting Galaxy Communications Classic Hits Sunny 102 WZUN as Galaxy merged WSENs intellectual property into their station, 92.1 is now airing the programming of Craig Foxs Classic Hits 95.3/103.9 The Dinosaur 103.9 WNDR-FM/95.3 W237AY. That came about as Family Life has agreed to swap WSEN-FM to Fox for three of his Syracuse area signals. 96.7 WWLF-FM Oswego, 105.1 WOLF-FM Deruyter and 98.7 W254CI Camillus will begin airing Family Lifes programming next week forcing Fox to relocate the Country programming of Wolf 105.1 from those three signals. Moving WOLF-FM to 92.1 would place the Country format on a stronger in-market Class B1 as opposed to the three signals it currently utilizes to compete against iHeartMedias 104.7 WBBS. In recent weeks anonymous registrations had been made for Wolf921.com, 921FMTheWolf.com, and 92TheWolf.com in preparation of this move. |
