Ellen White, W1YL, deserves the title of “Grande Dame� of amateur radio
with over 70 years into the hobby. Now entering her 90th year, Ellen is as
active as ever on 40 meter CW. Her ham radio story began as a love story
that involved a World War 2 GI, Bob White, W1CW (sk), who became her
husband, ham radio elmer, and companion for over fifty years. W1YL is my
guest on QSO Today.

A new amateur radio promotional leaflet produced by the Dutch national
society VERON perpetuates the myth that Yuri Gagarin was a radio amateur



VERON has made the leaflet available in a convenient PDF format to enable
amateurs to print it out to give away at fairs, open days, or just to
friends, family or neighbours.
