/////////////////////////////////////////// WXHC Rebrands As X101 Posted: 01 Jun 2016 12:19 PM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...rands-as-x101/ Eves Broadcasting rebranded Classic Hits Oldies 101.5 WXHC Homer/Cortland NY as X101 this morning. The change comes as the station celebrates its 25th anniversary this month. The station claims the rebranding comes to remove the stigma of being just a 60s and 70s based station as it evolves with the format to add more 80s and 90s tracks. No changes to the on-air lineup which includes Program Director Joel Brown in mornings and OM Mike Eves in afternoons. WXHC 101.5 Homer/Cortland celebrates its 25th year of broadcasting to the CNY area this month. *It was June 1991 when John Eves and wife Patty along with brother Bruce signed the FM Radio Station on the air. *A lot has changed since then: From “Hometown Radio” to “Mix 101.5”, to “Oldies 101.5”, and NOW “X101 Always Classic.” Yes today, June 1st, Oldies 101.5 became X101 Always Classic. *According to Eves, the Oldies format has a stigma of playing only music from the 60’s and 70’s. *We’ll still play the classic hits from the 60’s and 70’s, we’ve just moved into the 80’s and 90’s Eves said. One thing that is not changing is our same great music classic hits, from the Beatles to Billy Joel, Elton John, Santana, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, The Allman Brothers, and yes even a little Grateful Dead, X101 plays great music and occasionally even those one hit wonders you remember. ?Program Director and morning man, Marathon NY’s own Joel Brown works tirelessly to make sure X101 plays the classic music hits you want to hear along with his “today in music”, “Hot Headlines”, and “Today I Learned” features. ?Keeping X101 Always Classic moving through the afternoon is Mike Eves. *If you want your station live and local X101 Always Classic is the place to tune. *Mike has his “what were they thinking” feature and he is constantly updating*the website, wxhc.com along with Facebook and Twitter. ?News Director and Cortland native, Brad Smith brings his 30 years of broadcasting background and unique writing style and delivery to keep X101 listeners up to date and informed on local issues. X101 still has a great lineup of specialty shows. On Friday night it’s local favorite Johnny West, from 6 to Midnight, with “Friday Night Rock N Roll.” On Sundays from 6 8am it’s “The Sounds of Sinatra with Sid Mark”, then 8 -10am “Breakfast with the Beatles”, followed by “Into the 70’s” from 10 3pm, and Nina Blackwood “Absolutely 80’s” from 3-6pm. /////////////////////////////////////////// Billboard: CBS Beats Lawsuit Over Pre-1972 Songs With Bold Copyright Argument Posted: 01 Jun 2016 11:33 AM PDT http://www.billboard.com/biz/article...source=twitter /////////////////////////////////////////// WKEQ Somerset Doubles Its Q Posted: 01 Jun 2016 10:10 AM PDT https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...doubles-its-q/ iHeartMedia Classic Rock Q97 WKEQ Somerset KY has rebranded as Double Q97.1 under new WJQQ calls as it tightens its association with sister 100.1 WKQQ Lexington.
