I figured it was time to get familiar with the Chinese radios that are
sweeping over ham radio. The BaoFeng UV-5x3 tri-band radio is the guinea
pig.

Tom Callas, KC0W, is on a multi year DXpedition to many exotic DX
spots--until today. He reports his entire DXpedition supplies , rigs,
personal possessions--all of it--have been stolen on 28 Sept in Kiribati.
(SEE TOMS QRZed WEB PAGE).



Obviously distraught by these events, Tom is strongly considering
cancelling the rest of his Dxpedition itinary.



Several folks are reaching out to Tom and seeing what he needs to
continue--or return stateside. At this time, Tom has not assessed his...

USS Batfish ARC Storm Damage Fund

The USS Batfish, a World War II submarine thats dry-docked in Muskogee,
Oklahoma, and the USS Oklahoma Amateur Radio Club recently took a major hit
during a severe storm on July 14th 2016. The club lost its radio tower, its
tri-band, 4 element beam, and a 40 Meter quarter wave vertical on the boat,
and needs your help to replace them. It also received damage to some of the
wire antenna supports,...
