Tom Gallagher, the new CEO at the ARRL will be the featured guest on this
weeks Ham Nation broadcast on Leo Laports TWIT network at 8 pm CST
Wednesday. Tom will be talking about the special event this Saturday,
commemorating the 95th Anniversary of the first Transatlantic transmission
from Greenwich, Ct to Scotland which ushered in the age of global
communications. Saturday, Dec 10th N1BCG will once again be activated on
all on the AM windows of 3870 - 3890, 7290 - 7295 and 14.268....

With the push by the ARRL on contacting your Senators now out in emails and
their webpage, I thought Id touch base with my Senator, Roger Wicker
(R-MS), to see why the earlier ARRL note that a voice vote was scheduled
for November has now gone silent. Ive phrased my note as being from "some
ham in Mississippi" to tease Chris Imlay W3KD of the ARRL since he used
that term when describing how the Senate Bill (S. 1635) got submitted.
Other than a private note of thanks from the Past President...

Slow Scan TV Camera on Line in Hawaii

KH6OWL has set up a website that displays a sample of the most recent Slow
Scan TV still-image pictures which he has received from across the world on
the 20 meter ham band on 14.230 MHz. Quality varies with signal reception
for images in analog format. He has AUTO-SLANT turned OFF in the MMSSTV
software, so you will see the pure reception of recieved SSTV signal on his
site.



The site displays the 12 most recently received signals. Thanks to Larry,
WA9TT, for help in setting up the FTP...

TAPRs John Ackermann N8UR details this little Arduino based device - he
calls it a stopwatch - that will measure time to the trillionths of a
second. Why does anyone need that, when, according to Star Trek, its
possible to give verbal start-stop commands controlling spacecraft going

The Second ARRL License Exam held aboard the USS Missouri

December 17, 2016. Pearl Harbor Hawaii, Ford Island.



75 years and 10 days after the attack on Pearl Harbor the Emergency Amateur
Radio Club (EARC) in Honolulu, an ARRL affiliated club, held the second
Amateur radio test session aboard the USS Missouri. Testing on board this
historical ship seems to be a popular event as our section manager received
a special request to conduct it on board.



We are happy to report six new operators passed the FCC Exam and will be
granted Amateur Radio...
