![]() RadioInsight /////////////////////////////////////////// Joey Mitchell To Retire From 101.5 K-Hits Sacramento Posted: 05 Mar 2021 01:49 PM PST https://radioinsight.com/headlines/2...ts-sacramento/ After over 50 years in radio (the last 45 in Sacramento), Joey Mitchell will retire from Results Radio Classic Hits 101.5 K-Hits KCCL Woodland/Sacramento on Friday, March 26. Mitchell joined then K-Hits 92.1 KCCL in 2007 moving with the station to 101.5 in 2013. Mitchell began his career at 94.3 KVFM San Fernando CA in 1971 and then came to Sacramento following a stint at 1440 KPRO Riverside. He started in the market with a two month stint at 93.7 KPOP Roseville, before joining Country 1140 KRAK as evening host in December 1975. Mitchell would be promoted to morning host the following February and stay through the stations move to 98.5 in 1996. After a two year stint in mornings at Oldies Cool 101.1 KHYL, Mitchell returned to KRAK in its Classic Country phase through quick frequency shifts from 98.5 to 93.7 to 1470 in the aftermath of the late 90s consolidation. Mitchell would spend two years in mornings at an unrelated Kool 101.9 KHYL from 2001-2003 and then had a brief weekend stint as Christian AC 103.9 The Fish KFIS-FM before joining KCCL. /////////////////////////////////////////// 92Q Baltimore Debuts The AM Clique Posted: 05 Mar 2021 01:20 PM PST https://radioinsight.com/headlines/2...the-am-clique/ Radio One Hip Hop 92Q 92.3 WERQ Baltimore will debut a new morning show, The AM Clique hosted by Porkchop and AngelBaby on Monday, March 8. Johnny PorkChop Doswell has been part of the station for nearly two decades serving as a producer, former morning show co-host, and most recently evening host. AngelBaby joins WERQ from Radio Ones Z107.9 WENZ Cleveland where she was hosting middays. Taking its name from the artists OVO Sound record label, the channel debuted at 10:30pm last night with a new episode of Drakes OVO Sound Radio show that previously aired on Apple Musics Beats 1 channel from 2015-2018. The show led into the debut of music from his new EP at midnight. SiriusXM signed Drake in July 2019 to what it called the largest agreement it and subsidiary Pandora have executed with a major recording artist. The deal was set to include the dedicated station, curated music and collaborations with Drake and other creative talent. SiriusXMs channel listing describes the new channel as The vision of multi-platinum recording artist and OVO Sound Co-founder Drake. A radio experience reflecting his interests in music and culture from all walks of life. Expect boundary-pushing hip hop and RB alongside global vibes from the Caribbean, Latin America, The U.K. and beyond. The channel’s flagship show is OVO Sound Radio a weekly, “musical art gallery” hosted and curated by OVO Co-Founder Oliver El-Khatib. The largest operator of local television stations also owns four radio stations in Seattle. Among the exits from the company are the Curt, Corine & Leonard morning show at Hot AC Star 101.5 KPLZ Seattle. Curt Kruse joined KPLZ as afternoon host in 2002. Corine McKenzie began with the station in 1996 as part of the morning show, then teamed with Kruse in afternoons in 2004 until their move to mornings in December 2018. Leonard Barokas had been with the station since 1991 and has served as morning show producer since 1994 and also served as Assistant Program Director. PugetSound.media adds that KPLZs Music Director has exited.
