![]() It's been 5 years folks, can one assume that the FCC enforcement division will soon act to deny the pending renewal and pull his ticket? I don't see how this new chapter is going to make any difference though. This story is taking way to long to play out, and is *far* from over. I guess we can hope somebody comes to their senses soon, but don’t hold your breath. I'd really like to get that part of 20 Meters back soon.... -= Bob =- On Nov 4, 12:30 pm, Paul W. While the gring gets finer and finer we all have to just ignore the nasty mess on 20 meters? I really don't understand why the FCC is taking so long to yank his ticket. This seems like a cut and dried enforcement action to me. They guy has an unpaid fine for breaking the rules that they have known about for 5 years now and I don't think that if he's paid the fine or not matters. Maybe they have been hoping he'd offer to give up his ticket and drop the fine or something? Hard to tell what they are thinking. I sure wish they'd deny the renewal soon... Not that I think that would stop this. If the retoric is any indication of what is to come, the net result of pulling the ticket will have the same effect as the $21,000 fine. Here's hoping it's almost over, but I'm not holding my breath. Somebody let me know when 20 meters has sanity return. |

You can not deny a renawal till the license comes up for renewal YOU CAN, however, revoke it.. And I'm kind of surprised they have not done so since I have listened to his transmissions and it would appear to me that they clearly violate a few different provisions. The problem is getting him to surrender the license. As I said, sooner or later the FCC will show up with US Marshalls and they will take away his toys... Him too. |

Well... You can not deny a renawal till the license comes up for renewal Actually, his license expired in 2005, right around the time the FCC affirmed the NAL. He retains his operating privileges because a renewal application was properly filed just before his license expired. The application was initially granted, then reversed and set aside "for enforcement action" and until they rule on the application he retains his license. Currently his license will continue literally *forever* waiting on the FCC to do something with his application. All the FCC has to do is deny his renewal and his license is gone. The problem is getting him to surrender the license. As I said, sooner or later the FCC will show up with US Marshalls and they will take away his toys... Him too. The next step towards that is to deny his pending application and yank his ticket. When they finally do pull the ticket, nothing will change. It may make it easier for the FCC to fine him for transmitting, but I don’t think 14 MHz will be any different. I don't think the US Marshalls will ever show up and haul him to jail. They may come to evict him if he looses his house due to the fines, but we are talking a LONG time before they fine him out of house and home at this pace. They may try to take his toys once he’s a pirate, but given the FCC's slow pace up to this point I think he will be SK for a few weeks before his station stops transmitting. (And I'll bet it won't properly ID when the relays and tape players finally quit..) Of course I sure hope they can get him off the air sooner rather than later. It would be nice to get 14.275 back soon. |

The question is not WILL it happen, It will.. It is will our grandkids still be alive to see it happen. |
